The brushtail possum was originally introduced to help establish the New Zealand fur trade. Soft and fluffy, their numbers have reached epidemic proportions, threatening New Zealand’s lush forests and unique bird life. Possums chew through around 7 million tonnes of vegetation a year, and are often seen ‘flat out’ on New Zealand highways!
